Join West Central Airshed Society and Alberta Capital Airshed present Air Quality 101 for Municipal Leaders, designed to give municipal decision-makers a clear, practical understanding of local air quality issues. Hear from experts at the Alberta Capital Airshed alongside Jocelyn Thrasher-Haug, Manager of Agriculture & Environment at Strathcona County and ACA Board President. This session will explore how municipalities can effectively work with their Airshed to support healthier communities. The webinar was on February 4 from 1:30-2:30PM MST.
Colten Nahrebeski, ACA and WCAS Membership Coordinator, will provide a high-level overview of what Airsheds are and how they operate, including how local Airsheds support air quality management across the province. He will also touch on key air quality concepts and why understanding local air quality matters for communities and municipalities.
Dr. Kevin McCullum, ACA and WCAS Data Manager, will walk participants through the Airshed Members Portal, highlighting the tools and resources available to members. He will also review the types of air quality data accessible through the portal and how members can use this information to support decision-making and planning.
Jocelyn Thrasher-Haug will showcase how Municipalities and Airsheds can collaborate to achieve best-in-class outcomes for air quality and climate resilience. Through innovative strategies and real-world examples, opportunities in monitoring, applying air data to municipal operations and infrastructure, education, events, and community programs will be highlighted.
