Join Alberta Capital Airshed and West Central Airshed Society for our upcoming workshop, Air Aware: Wildfire Smoke and Health. This workshop is designed to help individuals and organizations better understand the connection between wildfire smoke and health. Participants will learn what air quality is, how it can affect our health, and practical steps that can be taken to prepare for and respond to wildfire smoke events.
This workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 31 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM MDT via Zoom. Please note, the recording for this workshop will NOT be available online afterwards, we encourage live attendance.
The workshop will be lead by Taryn Parsonage, an Engagement Intern with Alberta Capital Airshed. In her role, she supports community engagement initiatives to raise awareness about local air quality. She is a Master of Public Health student at the University of Alberta School of Public Health with a strong interest in the intersection of climate change and health. Her studies focus on the challenges related to climate change and its health impacts on communities. During her practicum at ACA, she developed the Air Aware: Wildfire Smoke and Health Workshop, translating content from ACA’s Community Guide to Wildfire Smoke and Health into a practical and accessible resource.
Alberta Capital Airshed and West Central Airshed Society are your Airshed organizations, responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting the outdoor air quality, including the Air Quality Health Index.
