Wildfire smoke is becoming more common, as are poor air quality days from smog, human pollution and other causes. Kim Menounos from Prince George Air Improvement Roundable (PGAIR) will kick of our event with a bit of a comparison between approaches to air quality monitoring in British Columbia and Alberta, as well as projects that PGAIR has undertaken to mitigate the impacts of wildfire smoke in the area. Jill Bloor from Calgary Region Airshed Zone (CRAZ) will share information about their guide to wildfire smoke. Gary Redmond from West Central Airshed and Alberta Capital Airshed will conclude speaker presentations with information about poor air quality events in the two Airsheds. He will also propose opportunities for municipal and multi-stakeholder collaboration towards mitigating the human impacts of poor air quality event days in the region.

Presenters
Kim Menounos (RPF) is the Manager in the Northern and Interior Region of the Fraser Basin Council (FBC), and has worked with FBC for over 5 years. Under the Air Quality program, Kim manages the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable (PGAIR), and the Prince George Air Quality Monitoring Working Group. In her work with PGAIR, Kim has gained a strong appreciation for inclusive community and stakeholder engagement processes. Broad support for initiatives such as air quality improvements depend on commitments from all sectors.Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies. Originally from the Ottawa Valley, Kim now lives in Prince George, where the incredible trail systems offer amazing skiing, mountain biking and walking opportunities.
Jill Bloor has been the Executive Director of CRAZ since April 2008. She came to the organization after many years in the social service sector, all with non-profit organizations. She has a B.A. from York University and a Masters of Non-Profit Administration (M.N.A.) from North Park University in Chicago. She is a Registered Social Worker. Jill brings her experience in program development, conflict resolution and organizational development, to name a few, to CRAZ.
Gary Redmond is the Executive Director of both the Alberta Capital Airshed and the West Central Airshed Society, where he provides leadership in air quality management within Alberta. With a background in emergency and environmental management spanning over 25 years, Gary has held senior positions within government, industry, and NGO sectors in Canada and abroad. Gary brings a passion of multi-stakeholder collaboration and community capacity building in all that he does.For more information
