AQHI Cloud Lights

WCAS partners with local organizations like municipal libraries, Friendship Centres, schools, and recreation centres across the Airshed to host "cloud lights," which visually represent the local Air Quality Health Index (AQHI). The light's colour changes to easily indicate the current air quality, helping community members make informed decisions about outdoor activities, particularly during events like wildfire smoke occurrences.

$400 annual fee includes cost and maintenance of cloud light, smart bulb, technician time to install the unit, and maintain connectivity to Airshed applications.

Air Aware – Wildfire Smoke and Health Workshop

The Air Aware – Wildfire Smoke and Health Workshop is an interactive session designed to help individuals and organizations better understand the connection between air quality and health, particularly during wildfire smoke events. Participants will learn what air quality is, how it affects health, and practical steps they can take to prepare for and respond to wildfire smoke events. This workshop takes a tailored approach, encouraging participants to consider how air quality issues apply to their own communities and empowering them to make informed decisions to protect their health.

This presentation can be customized to meet the needs of specific audiences, with content adapted to explore topics most relevant to different groups and communities.

Specialization Options:

  • Childcare facilities
  • Outdoor workers
  • Sports teams
  • Event organizers
  • People with pre-existing health conditions
  • People working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Seniors
  • People working with seniors
  • Municipalities, Communities, and Organizations
  • General Public

Online Training & Accreditation

Build your team’s capacity with our available programming:

  • Self-paced, expert-led online training
  • Focus on wildfire smoke and air quality advisories
  • Accreditation available for participants
